Illustrator, cartoonist and author. Born in Colombia, he lives in Montreal where he works for publishers in Canada, Colombia, France and the United States. Yayo has a background in Commercial Art and Fine Arts. He has been awarded for his illustrations and cartoons with prizes, notably the Grand Prize in the International Bienial of Cartoons The Golden Smile in Belgrade and The Charles Biddle Award. This award highlights the exceptional contribution of an individual who immigrated to Quebec and whose personal or professional engagement contributes to Quebec's cultural and artistic development on the national and international scene. He has published five cartoon books and illustrated more than twenty-five books for children and young readers. His most recent book is Night Sky Wheel Ride (2012), with texts by Sheree Fitch.
