Têtes de fables et hommes de bêtes

Based on Jean de La Fontaine’s work

From Chantal Daoust

Illustration Québec Galerie was please to welcome, from March 7 to April 1st, the exhibition Têtes de fables et hommes de bêtes from Chantal Daoust.

With this new exhibition, 14 characters inspired by the work of Jean de La Fontaine come to life. The experience has challenged the artist to graphically illustrate some of the fabulists’ heroes. The center of her creative path was: anthropomorphism. Its creation juxtaposes human figures with animal heads using figurative collages. Finally, a foray into the world of texts by the author dresses the composition of a typographical integration where the formal approach predominates over the reading.

Chantal is a multidisciplinary artist who combines visual arts, graphic arts and scenic arts. Her new project responds to the one created in the context of her master degree in visual arts.
