Throughout its 25 years of existence, the Quebec Association of Illustrators' mandate - to regroup and help illustrators, to promote and broadcast illustration - incessantly materialized itself by its catalogue, network evenings, standard contracts, author rights information, conferences, website and its gallery. Today, the AIIQ counts more than 300 members.
Here is how the Quebec Association of Illustrators came to be and what the major milestones which marked its history were:
Why an association ? To promote illustrations in the media, to group together all kinds of illustrators, French speaking as well as English speaking, and to encourage communications between them. The association wishes to be non-selective at the root and wants to encourage quality productions, in order to move the illustrator out of his isolation and to offer him a variety of services and information which render him more accessible and more effective.
During that year :

- With the aim of remaining dynamic and answering the demands of the market and the illustrators, the AIIQ decides to replace the Repertoire by a new printed tool which will be born in 2009.
For 23 years, the AIIQ has published 22 editions of the Repertoire. This tool, released between 4 000 and 6 000 copies, has wonderfully served the promotion of illustration and illustrators who have chosen to figure in it. The repertoire was distributed to buyers of illustrations in the field of advertising, communications, publishing and graphic design studios in Quebec, Canada and the United States.
After several years producing this fine tool, AIIQ decided to replace the Repertoire by a new promotional printed tool. It is indeed a need for the Association, to adjust to new ways of promoting in the field of illustration. The spectacular growth of technology in recent years questioned the need to produce paper directories that are usually quite expensive. However, as AIIQ knows the importance of providing printed promotional materials, it simply wants to rethink the format of the directory to suggest a new tool, more competitive in terms of cost. The AIIQ wish to innovate to serve you better!
Meanwhile, the Association still wants to acknowledge the work and efforts of many talented people who have, during these 23 years, worked on those Repertoires.
Offer yourself a journey back in time and have a look at the 25 different covers of Illustration Quebec. You'll discover the four covers produced for the 15th edition, as well as the cover of the unique Repertoire by AIIQ-Quebec.
