Description

The Black Snake is a concept art/splash painting project I made for my thesis for Dawson College. I focused in the first part on world-building, detailing the workings of a once great religious order turned to committing atrocities in the medieval era. Led by the immortal Black Snake, members of the Church imbibe black excretions from the Snake's own body in order to mimic his transformation and reach Godhood themselves. Though it is kept from members of the order themselves, none who reach the final stages of transformation are allowed to survive, assassinated by the Black Snake in order to maintain his supremacy. All of the visual research and conceptualization was done traditionally, mostly in pencil within one sketchbook, and the splash painting was made using photoshop.
